This is a picture of my Niece Jennifer. This stock photo has appeared just about everywhere.
Jennifer had this picture taken when she was in her early twenties for a stock photo company. These picture have subsequently appeared on billboards, web sites, magazine covers, and packaging in materials all over the world.
The pictures became something of an internet phenomonon when an online magazine called The Inquirer started writing articles about how her picture was appearing everywhere. They labled her “The Everywhere Girl” and people all over the world started reporting sitings of her picture.
The The Inquirer started making up stories about the girl in the picture. They wove an elaborate imaginary stories about her adventures, without actually knowing who she is.
When the picture was taken it seemed she got paid REALLY well. However, her pictures are appearing all over the world and she doesn’t get any royalties. In retrospect, it doesn’t seem like she got paid all that well after all.
Oh well, that’s life.
The scope of the distribution of these pictures has made her something of an internet phenomena, particularly in England. This would be more impressive, of course, if it weren’t for the British having nothing better to do with their time than obsessing about American models.
If they were Americans, of course, they would have more useful things to do. Things like memorizing baseball statistics back to 1938, buying a larger SUV, or debating the spiritual subtleties of “Lost”. Ah, being an American is such an existential romp.
Jennifer is currently living in Los Angeles where she is acting, going to school, and working with Stan (her main squeeze) in a growing internet business.
